Aan het Stadsstrand

Can you imagine…? Waking up and seeing the summer light through the high window? You get up and see the warm glow of the sun on the sandy beach. You open your door and on bare feet you walk on your wooden terrace to breath in the calm, yet urban atmosphere. It is also great in winter, for when the sand freezes, you can see the winter sun reflected on the frozen sand. Imagine sitting there, holding a cup of coffee on your balcony or sitting comfortably behind the glass front of the house that captures the winter light in its entirety. 

With the vision described above, Ingenious won the competition of the municipality of Veenendaal in 2018, asking the competitors what this exclusive and special part of Veenendaal should look like in the future. This is an area that was lying fallow in the crisis period between 2010 and 2017. A group of people turned it into the still popular ‘Stadsstrand’ (city beach), where one could chill out with a group of friends or one’s children and where events were held throughout the year.

Currently, this special project is finished and one can see immediately that the vision of Ingenious has worked very well. There is a large ‘beach house’ with nice bars and restaurants where one can eat well at ‘Aan het Stadsstrand’.
